Jason Plourde

Biography

Dr. Jason Plourde is the chief administrator at Green Hills Area Education Agency (GHAEA) where he leads, supervises, and supports over 300 staff members and multiple consulting services, including media, technology, and general and special education. Dr. Plourde aims to ensure Green Hills AEA creates and nurtures a positive staff culture with high-functioning teams who deliver unparalleled services, support, and advocacy on behalf of each child.

Dr. Plourde has dedicated 30 years to public education in southwest-south central Iowa, earning several noteworthy professional honors and accomplishments throughout his tenure. His leadership roles include serving as a former executive director of teaching and learning, director of secondary schools, and building administrator for elementary, middle, and high school levels. Previously, he was a math and science, talented and gifted, and special education teacher and paraeducator in Council Bluffs Community School District. Prior to teaching in Council Bluffs, Dr. Plourde was a special education teacher with Loess Hills AEA 13 in a specialized program for students with behavioral challenges. 

Dr. Plourde is an alumnus of the University of Nebraska Omaha and Creighton University, earning a bachelor’s in K8 education with an emphasis in special education and advanced degrees in PK12 educational administration, leadership, and management. 

Over his career, Dr. Plourde has been honored with multiple awards, including the Promising Professional Distinguished Alumni Award from University of Nebraska Omaha in 2010 and the Milken Family Foundation National Educator Award for Iowa in 2008.
