Meg Mechelke was a student writer at the IRRC from 2020–2022, and a communications assistant in 2023. They are a lifelong reader and writer who is honored to be part of a team that helps students develop strong literacy skills. In the fall of 2022, Meg earned a bachelor’s degree in theatre arts and creative writing from the University of Iowa, where they also worked as the lead student writer for the IRRC. As a sophomore, Meg was a University of Iowa Student Employee of the Year honoree for their work on Varied Practice Reading. In their free time, Meg enjoys playing the guitar and watching horror movies.
