Research at the Iowa Reading Research Center depends on the teachers, administrators, caregivers, students, and others who participate in our studies. By participating in IRRC research, you can help further our understanding of literacy learning and instruction.
Findings from IRRC research guide the development of:
- Webinars
- eLearning modules
- Teacher training materials
- Apps and online tools to support instruction
- Printable classroom resources
Some of our current projects focus on morphology instruction for secondary students, fidelity monitoring in school settings, best practices for teaching handwriting and spelling, and strategies for promoting early literacy skills at home.

Fidelity Perceptions and Practices Survey – Recruiting Soon!
We are conducting a study on Iowa school personnel implementation fidelity perceptions and practices. We would love to hear from as many Iowa school personnel as possible.
You are eligible to participate in the study if you are an Iowa teacher of reading or any school personnel (administrators, coaches, school psychologists, etc.) who is involved with implementation fidelity monitoring.
Participants will take a short online survey that should take no more than 25–30 minutes to complete and can be taken on a phone, computer (desktop or laptop), or tablet. Your responses will be anonymous—no one, including the Iowa Reading Research Center or your school, will be able to connect your identity to your survey responses.
If you have any questions about the study, please contact the Principal Investigator of the study, Kimberly McFadden, Postdoctoral Research Scholar, by phone at (319) 384-2268 or via email at kimberly-mcfadden@uiowa.edu.
